Asian cole slaw
- green cabbage
- purple cabbage
- carrots
- water chestnuts
- sesame seeds
Feel free to add snap peas or other veg if you like. I stick with crispy stuff. Bamboo shoots work fine. a scallion is good too but onion is too strong
marinade:
- rice wine vinegar (about a cup, depending on quantity of veg you're using)
- stir in honey, at least a tsp but a bit at a time & let it set. it takes awhile for the flavour to marry. keep stirring
- a tsp or so of sesame oil. it's a bit opposite of a vinaigrette. you don't want it oily like salad.
- a tsp or so of crushed ginger
all really just to personal taste. keep in mind the vinegar will sort of cook the cabbage so depending if you want crispy or not, add marinade less than an hour before serving
